Interpretation

Gym Class Heroes speak about the singer's love for his girlfriend. In the first verse, he tells his mother that he has fallen in love again and although it may sound old-fashioned, he feels struck by Cupid's arrow and can't resist. His white flag is raised - a symbol of surrendering to love.
He praises his girlfriend and the little things she does for him, like cooking pancakes and giving him Alka Seltzer when he has a stomachache. They even have a secret handshake and she loves the music his band makes. Despite his youth, if he had to choose between her and the sun, he would choose her and be a 'nocturnal sunshine'.
In the second verse, he talks to his father and tells him that he believes he has found 'the one'. He knows his father has heard about his previous unsuccessful relationships, but he assures him that this is different.
