In "Kids Are Growing Up (Part 1)", The Kid LAROI reflects on his coming of age and how his perceptions and needs have changed over time.

In the first part of the song, he speaks about the changes in his childhood and adolescence. He says, "Growing up I used to wanna be my uncle Wayne / Until I saw his body laying in the grave". Here, he describes how his uncle's death has influenced him and destroyed his desire to emulate him.

He also talks about his experiences with money and how it changes people. He says, "Growing up I used to have a lotta friends / Until I saw the money change 'em". Here, he highlights how money has affected his relationships and perhaps even destroyed them.

In the second part of the song, he speaks about his reality as an up-and-coming rapper. He says, "I'm writing this from a place that you ain't heard about / You can only come here thru the word of mouth". He describes coming from a place that most people don't know about and having to work hard to get there.

He also confesses that his previous perception of fame was wrong. He says, "Growing up I watched my favorite rapper's interviews / I ain't believe 'em when they say it ain't all what it seems".
