Meaning of 'Fast Car'

Interpretation

'Fast Car' by Tracy Chapman is a song that captures the hope and despair of life in poverty. The song is about a young woman who longs to escape her difficult life situation. She plans to flee with her boyfriend in a fast car, with the hope of a better life.
